What is your favorite carnival/amusement park ride?
None of them. I'm a wimp and even get dizzy on the merry-go-round!
Soup
How do you react in uncomfortable social situations?
I just stay quiet and try to be invisible. I'm not much of a "crowd person" and don't do well in social situations to begin with, haha!
Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy discussing deep, philosophical topics?
7, depending on the topic.
Main Course
Did you get a flu shot this year? If not, do you plan to?
No and no.

0-1 at the most. :)

FRIDAY'S FEAST
Appetizer
What was your first “real” job?
I'd have to say being a receptionist for a medical assistance company in New Jersey, about a million years ago.
Soup
Where would you go if you wanted to spark your creativity?
Someplace quiet -- preferably, out in the middle of nowhere in the mountains.
Salad
Complete this sentence: I am embarrassed when…
I do or say something stupid, which I do all the time, lol.
Main Course
What values did your parents instill in you?
Uhhh...... To never be an alcoholic and beat your child??? (they gave me a fabulous example of how NOT to be!). Other than that, nada -- growing up, my life was simply trying to survive in the most literal sense.
Dessert
Name 3 fads from your teenage years.Ummm...let's see... Ponytails off to the side of your head, instead of in the back, like normal... "jelly shoes," and bright neon colors. 80s all the way, baby!!!! :)

Friday's Feast
Appetizer
Who is the easiest person for you to talk to?
Does this blog count????
Soup
If you could live in any ancient city during the height of the quality of its society and culture, which one would you choose?
It would have been EXTREMELY cool to live in Jerusalem at the time Jesus was here!!!!!
Salad
What is the most exciting event you’ve ever witnessed?
Homecoming ceremony for E Troop, 108 CAV from Griffin, Georgia. That was COOL. And sad, too.
Main Course
If you were a celebrity, what would you do for a publicity stunt?
I can’t think of anything!
Dessert
What do you consider the ideal age to have a first child?
I finally felt “ready” to have kids when I was 27. Of course, I’d had my first at 20, and my second at 22…. But when I found I was pregnant with my third at 27, I felt like I finally had a clue and was actually ready for it this time.

FRIDAY'S FEAST
Appetizer
What is your favorite kind of pie?
BLUEBERRY
Soup
Name something that made you smile this week.
*thinks*
*ponders*
*thinks more*
Ummmm.... I really can't think of anything that stands out. How about the fact that it's FRIDAY and I get to sleep late tomorrow? :)
Salad
What do you do to cool off when the weather is hot and humid?
Let's see... considering the fact that it's been in the extremely high 90s and low 100s here in ATL this whole week... I stay inside and don't go outside much! Thank God for good air conditioning! :)
Main Course
You receive $1,000 in the mail with a letter that says you can only use the money to redecorate one room in your home. Which room do you pick and why do you spruce it up?
I stick the check in the bank, maybe in a CD or something, until such time as a room needs redecorating. We just moved in six months ago and it was re-decorated before we even got there, furniture and all (gotta love those reality shows!!).
Anyway, i'd eventually like to expand my small office (which I have to share with hubby) and maybe make it big enough to turn it into TWO offices (complete with doors...right now it's kind of an open area) so I'll have peace & quiet when I'm trying to work. :)
Dessert
Fill in the blank: My _________ says __________, but I __________.
My friends say I'm crazy, but I.... can't argue with that, hahaha! :)

Friday's Feast
Appetizer
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how polite are you?
Probably about a 9 or so. BUT. In the mornings, I just don't do so well at all. Not intentionally rude ~ I just can't form a coherant thought before 10 a.m. I literally may not hear you if you say "Good Morning" and aren't directly in front of me, waving frantically and/or holding a neon sign... not on purpose, my brain just doesn't work and I'm in my own universe in the mornings, haha! (sorry in advance, haha)
Soup
What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?
THIS POST by Ambulance Driver. Which turned out to be very bad luck, because later that same day, THIS happened to me. *sigh*
Salad
Who is your favorite cartoon character?
Garfield. Like him, I hate spiders, Mondays and mornings in general (see #1, above). Also like him, I love lasagne and sleep. :-) But unlike Garfield, I don't have a teddy bear named Pookie, and I don't kick my dog.
Main Course
Tell about the funniest teacher you ever had.
*invokes morning brain-deadness to say I can't remember offhand* I've had teachers that were funny and enjoyable, but no one particular teacher stands out as being extra hilarious. It's still too early for me to be thinking this hard, haha. (Is it me, or is there a theme running through this post? ha!)
Dessert
Complete this sentence: I strongly believe that ______________________.
I strongly believe that we need to do everything we can to support and encourage our deployed troops and our veterans here at home. To heck with politics - they need to know we (the "general public") really care about them. It's one thing to say you "support the troops" -- it's quite another thing to actually do something about it. Put words to action and check out these sites:
Soldiers Angels
Adoptaplatoon
Web of Support
Operation Quiet Comfort
Patriot Guard Riders.
-and-
I also strongly belive that THIS is absolutely true.

Friday's Feast
Appetizer
Describe a toy you remember from your childhood.
I don't recall many toys from my childhood...the closest thing would be my swingset, and my books...lots and lots of books!
Soup
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest) how observant are you?
About a 2 or 3 (being generous with myself, haha). Not very observant at all. Sometimes I can remember quirky, odd details that have no relavence whatsoever, but that's pretty random and sporadic.
Salad
Where would you rather be at this very moment?
In the mountains, in a cabin, sound asleep, far from civilization!!!!!!!!
Main Course
When was the last time you learned something new?
Yesterday... I figured out how to draw lines and arrows in Microsoft Word documents. (you know, one of those seemingly "simple" projects you do, that turn out to be way more involved than you anticipated and take at least twice as long as you estimated?)
Dessert
Fill in the blank: I have ____________ but I haven’t ____________.
I have WORK to do, but I haven't HAD ENOUGH COFFEE YET!

FRIDAY'S FEAST
Appetizer
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest) how much do enjoy watching sports on television?
ZERO!!!! Sports bore me.
Soup
If you could completely memorize any one work of fiction, which one would you pick?
ooh, good question! I'd say, any of the Harry Potter books, or maybe "Earagon", because both are just really good, entertaining stories of "Good v. Evil," growing up and learning about life, etc.
If memorizing non-fiction INSTANTLY was an option for this question, I'd say I'd want to memorize the "entire" Bible, as opposed to just portions of it here & there.
Salad
What is your favorite breakfast food?
Steak, eggs, bacon, grits, and a biscuit, of course! Oh yeah, and coffee. LOTS of COFFEE!
Main Course
Name something fun you can do for less than $10.00.
Bake cookies. Write letters. Read a book (libraries are free!). :)
Dessert
How long does it usually take you to fall asleep?
FOREVER! I'm such a night person.... no matter how tired I am during the day, I always perk up at night. Even if I'm sleepy, it takes me a while to get to sleep. I have to be absolutely, utterly exhausted before I can sleep.

friday's feast!
Appetizer
What is your favorite fruit?
It's a tie between strawberries & blueberries! and raspberries!
Soup
Who is someone you consider as a great role model?
Oh, that's an easy one... me and my husband both think Robert Stokely, father of our local fallen hero, Sgt. Mike Stokely, is an outstanding role model... a great example of a good father, true integrity, genuine and sincere faith, and determination. We've learned much as a result of knowing him!
Salad
If you were to spend one night anywhere within an hour of your home, where would you choose?
Ummm... let's see... that's a good question. An hour away is Atlanta, where I work ever day. I hate cities and I hate the drive, so that choice goes right out the window real fast! I'd say up north towards the mountains an hour...but even that area is becoming way too built up for me. Now if I could go two, two & a half hours away, I'd be in the mountains for real, and in the backwoods in the middle of nowhere and happy as a clam! :) However, since this little question is only allowing me a measly hour of travel.... I'll just stay home, thanks!
Main Course
Name something you do too often.
Get up before six a.m. :-/
Dessert
Fill in the blank: I really like ___________ because ____________.
Sleep very late on weekends, because I get up before six a.m. way too often!

FRIDAY'S FEAST
Appetizer
How many pieces of jewelry do you wear most days?
OK, this is easy: Wedding ring, engagement ring on one hand, then two other rings on the other hand. On my left wrist I have a POW/MIA memorial bracelet for Captain Herbert C. Crosby, who was recently found & buried at Arlington National Cemetery after having been missing for some 37 long years. The Georgia State Captain of the Patriot Guard Riders had these bracelets made up to specially commemorate our trip up there to honor Capt. Crosby. On the other wrist, I have a POW/MIA bracelet for SSG Keith “Matt” Maupin, who has been missing since 09 April 2004. I wear these bracelets 24/7, and never take them off. Pray for our POW/MIA heroes… they are out there, somewhere… don’t forget about them.
I also have a few memorial dogtags I wear on weekends or special events – One for SPC Justin Johnson from Rome, GA; one for Sgt. Michael Stokely from Loganville, GA, and also a Patriot Guard Rider dogtag.
Soup
What is your favorite instrumental song?
Good question... I like so-called "new age" instrumental music - very relaxing! Mostly I prefer to listen to nature sounds CDs, mostly my "thunderstorm" cd. Makes me sleep at night! Classical piano is good, too.
Salad
Who has a last name that you like?
Ummm.... never really thought about it!
Main Course
Name a popular movie you’ve never seen.
Most of them! I dont' get to watch movies much... just don't have time!

Do fast-food drive-thru windows count as an appliance???? No? drat. Well, I guess it's a tie... I love my little food-chopper thingy, and I love my microwave oven that is also a convection oven. :)

Yep! I emailed Troy McClain, who was a contestant on the first episode of “The Apprentice” and apparently made it all the way up to the top two before Donald Trump fired him. (I've never watched the Apprentice!) I emailed Troy because our family got a new house (in Feb. 2007) from the show he now hosts, called HomeTeam. Click HERE to watch the entire episode online. :-)
My email to Troy:
Thank you SOOOOO MUCH for the beautiful, gorgeous, WONDEFUL home!!!! I am still awestruck and humbled and amazed that so many people went to so much trouble for lill ole me!!!!! Truly its a miracle... absolutely NOBODY knew this, but for several months now, I'd been praying that God would somehowmake a way for us to own our own home and get us out of that awful trailer... I knew it would take a miracle...but I sure wasn't expecting THIS kind of miracle, haha! It's all too fabulous to take in... thank you SOmuch. It is my very sincere hope that this episode will show people how important it is to support the troops, how much our support means to them, and inspire folks to get involved and DO something! It is also my hope that my story will inspire women who may be in a very difficult time in their life not to give up, and to keep working towards their dreams, no matter what the odds.Thank you again - this is one of the most wonderful things that has ever happened! :)

Friday's Feast!
Appetizer
Tell about a time when you had to be brave.
Courage is not the *absence* of fear; rather, it is pressing on *in spite of* fear! I guess the only example that really comes to mind is when I had to leave my physically abusive ex, having a small toddler and an infant, no car, no family, no education except a GED, no anything, except God. and God took care of us and we made it through! :)
Soup
Which upcoming movie are you excited about seeing?
Delta Farce (I think it's out now?)
Also am just dying to see Wild Hogs - though that's been out a while. *taps foot impatiently, waiting for the DVD!*
Salad
Name an item you try to always have on hand.
I carry stamps, envelopes, stationery, address labels and pens with me in my purse everywhere I go, so I can write to my adopted Soldiers & Veterans whenever I get a minute. :)
Main Course
Imagine the most relaxing room you can think of. Now describe it!
It's quiet, with perhaps a nature CD playing in the background (preferably thunderstorms, or maybe ocean waves). It is done in "warm" colors, there's a fire in the fireplace, and everything is very soft & cozy. I'm curled up in my chair reading a nice fat book.....
Dessert
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being highest), how spiritual or religious are you?
I'd say a 10 - my relationship with God is very important to me, and is ultimately the driving force behind everything I do. I am by no means perfect, or anywhere even remotely close to it, however. And that's ok - because God accepts us 100% unconditionally, "as-is" when we come to him. :)

Name three of your best teachers from your school years.
Don't remember any at all. School was very bad for me and I ended up dropping out as a teenager (later getting my GED and subsequently enrolling in college)
Dessert
What are your plans for this upcoming weekend?
Going to have a booth at a local community festival, "Grayson Day," to collect cards for our troops overseas. My goal with this year's 4th of July Card Drive is to collect at least 5,000 cards to ship over to our troops in Iraq, letting them know that they are not forgotten and that we appreciate them. Send over 5,000 for Valentine's Day, and over 19,000 for Christmas -- so 5K for the 4th of July should be easy... I hope, LOL! Right now I've got about 50 or so accumulated from all over the U.S. Yay! :) Please do what you can to help out! :)

FRIDAY'S FEAST
Appetizer
What are you proud of?
All of my adopted Soldiers & Marines & Veterans, who give so much on our behalf!
Soup
What is the best thing you’ve ever won as a prize?
Oh that’s easy…. My HOUSE! Though it wasn’t exactly a prize for a contest, per se… click HERE to read about it! I’m still in shock, and it’s been two months now! Haha! As far as winning prizes in contests, etc… I NEVER do!
Salad
Name something you do that is a waste of time.
Reading emails when I should be doing homework!
Main Course
In what year of your life did you change the most?
Gee, hard to pinpoint just one year… isn’t life just a constant flow of continual change, in some fashion or another? I’d say the year it changed for the best was 1999, when I moved back home to Georgia where I belong, after having spent six long, cold, miserable years exiled up in New Jersey! Gotta love the South… good (fried) food, warmer weather… ahhhh…. Yep, life is good.
Dessert
Where is a place you consider to be very tranquil?
The mountains in the middle of nowhere.
==============================================================
And on an unrelated note: Y’all stay tuned – very, very soon (within the next day or two!) I will be starting my annual 4th of July card drive to collect cards from all over the country to send to our troops stationed in both Iraq and Afghanistan… watch this blog for more info!

Who is your favorite news anchor/reporter? Why?
I don’t really watch much tv… most of my news I get from online sources (www.wsbtv.com (local channel), www.foxnews.com, and from local newspapers. And, of course, can’t forget reading “milblogs” for the REAL story from the history-makers themselves… (see www.Milblogging.com for an extensive listing of several THOUSAND soldier blogs all over EVERYWHERE, and/or my sidebar for a list of my faves!).
Soup

Is ice a food? Let’s see.. various frozen Weight Watchers tv dinners, various frozen vegetables, and various frozen meets, etc.
Salad
If you were to have the opportunity to name a new town or city, what would you call it?
Ummmm…. Good question! How about… “Namelss”!!! yeah, seriously… “Nameless” for the name of the town. I know, I’m weird… but remember, I live in Georgia. We have towns here with names like Lick-Skillet, Ducktown, and Between, with roads with names like “Ho-Hum Hollow Road,” “No-Name Road,” and so on….
Main Course
What will most likely be the next book you read?
Well, let’s see.. Bible as an on-going reading project, as in, on-going year round (some days/weeks/months better than others….), but aside from that, will be reading The Red Badge of Courage again, along with various books critiquing/interpreting it, because my American Literature Research paper is going to be on The Red Badge of Courage.
