I'm back!

For the past three weeks, I've ignored this blog.

I've ignored my job.

I've ignored my college classes & assignments.

(All with the blessing of my boss & teachers.)

It's all been more than worth it!!!

When I get home from college tonight around 9 or 9:30 p.m. (yes, I'm actually attending class once again!), I'll update you further on the latest amazing adventure I had the honor of playing a small part in. I'd actually update you now, but the campus computer lab has the Q100 website blocked (SHAME on you, college computer lab!!! GRR!) so I can't include in this post the relevant links I need to to make this a really GOOD post, with pictures and videos and stuff. >:(

Stay tuned... I'm back, and will blog again later tonight.

And then collapse into a coma and SLEEP!!!! :)

Here we go...CLASS IS IN!

OK, just got home from my second night of class. M & W I have World Literature 2, and Tues & Thurs I have American History 2 (1865 till now).

This is going to be one darn GOOD semester!!! Both my teachers are AWESOME. My World Lit teacher is absolutely delightful.... that's the only word I can think of to describe her... an older woman, very sweet, cheerful and pleasant and personable. My History teacher is teaching "just because he loves history" - recently retired after 31 years in the business world, he doesn't need the $, he's doing this for fun. He seemed very easy-going and interesting too. AND my ears REALLY perked up when I heard that he spent 4 years in the USAF, one of those years in 'Nam. And his dad was a WW2 veteran, and he comes from a very patriotic background/upbringing. :-)

This is gonna be a fun semester.

(although it was pretty freaky when I learned that no less than FOUR of the kids in my History class recently graduated from Loganville High School within the past couple years, LOL... I feel like I'm going to class with my own kid, who recently STARTED high school herself! LOL! Great...now when I go to walmart at night and see a gaggle of kids haning out in the parking lot...there is a much greater probablility that I'll actually know a couple of them ROFLOL!)

AARRGHH!

*banging head against wall, repeatedly*

OK, so here I am, going thru the various schedules for classes for the various GPC campuses.... and I'm having almost NO luck finding the classes I need, at a time I'm able to take them!!! ARRGH! I know, I know... I could take online classes again, I really, really, really hate online classes and don't do nearly as well with them as I do with 'real' classes. Argh!

Maybe this is God's way of telling me I need to extend my "vacation" a little longer?!

ARGH!

Truth be told, I don't know that I even WANT to continue this semester...part of me does--- that adventerous, loves-to-learn-new-things part, but part of me is still EXHAUSTED and burned out!! Then again, last semester was such a dismal performance, really pitiful, that I feel somewhat compelled to take at least this one more semester to pull up my sagging, pitiful GPA before taking any kind of extended break.

Then again - I REALLY need a break... I've been doing absolutely NOTHING all summer, and going to bed at like 8 or 9 pm...and i'm STILL tired all the time. Work, come home, sleep. Repeat the next day. And that's IT! No leaping over tall buildings in a single bound (or even multiple bounds!); I have a variety of fun scrapbook projects that I want to do...but just haven't had the energy for.

PLUS.... I'd have to put this semester on ye olde credit cards... you know, the one's I've gotten nearly paid off (one of them -- the other is a little more than 50% paid off)...$640 tuition for two classes, plus a coupla hundred for books... the "check engine" light is on on my car and has been for a while, and the heat STILL doesn't work -- which i need to get fixed BEFORE WINTER. Plus various other issues I can't blog about which are somewhat uncertain.

Maybe if I get back into the swing of things, I'll perk up?? I seem to thrive on being busy and enjoy it. Maybe this 'vacation' i've given myself is not a good thing after all, haha.

Anyway... I haven't the first clue what I'm supposed to do here... Iand it's annoying the HECK outa me!

sorry, just had to vent.

Dodging a bullet.....

This semester has, without question, been the worst semester of my entire life in terms of academic performance. First, pneumonia hit.. I was sick for a week before I got around to going to the doc, then was “out” for two weeks sick as a dog the whole time… then at the end of that two weeks, something good happened and I was surprised with our new home… but that, of course, involves things like moving, and obtaining a mortgage, and so on and so forth… it was an additional two weeks after that before I really felt fully recovered from the pneumonia (and I know I got off real easy – could’ve been sick for months). Add to all the hullabaloo & chaos the fact that my attention span is about the size of a gnat to begin with…. And it all amounts to “not much studying” and a complete inability to focus on ANYTHING. For my cultural anthropology class, I’ve gotten not one, but TWO “Cs” this semester… two tests, two Cs… ACK!!!!!!!! My membership in the Honor’s Society is seriously in peril unless I ACE the last two Anthropology tests. ***SIGH***

However… all is not totally lost in GPA-world… I just got my American Literature midterm exam grade back… somehow, I totally dodged a bullet and somehow got REALLY lucky…… somehow, I got a 92 on my American Lit midterm… that’s an A! A low A, but an A nonetheless. I thought for sure my eyes were deceiving me when I read it, but no… it really did say “Your grade is a 92!” ***faints*** I thought for SURE I’d get a C or worse on that midterm… because without a doubt (I thought) it was one of, if not THE, worst essay I’d ever written. I just threw it together in a few hours and submitted it, glad it was over with… it was TOTALLY “on the fly” – last-minute, etc. Thankfully¸ the teacher, for whatever reason, apparently did not think it was “one of the worst essays I’ve ever written.” To give it an “A,” he must’ve thought it was at least decent. Yay teacher!!!! Now… If I can just do well on the research paper I’m going to write, life will be good (at least in American Literature-world, haha… Anthropology-world, however, is another story… it will be REALLY hard to pull my grade up on that class.

Problem is.. I let myself get so far behind on everything (stupid pneumonia!) that I’m just overwhelmed and kinda “frozen.” Have been doing better this week, but still. Ack.

I will be SO glad when this semester is OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Calgon…TAKE ME AWAAAAAYYYYYYYY!

ARGH... College SNAFUs.....

OK, so... the next semester is supposed to start MONDAY, January 8, right? So... I ordered the textbooks I needed for my American Literature class and my Intro to Anthropology class. My literature books arrived in the mail yesterday - brand new, perfect condition, and exactly what I'm supposed to have. My anthropology book, however.... argh. It was supposed to be the ELEVENTH edition, and somehow, I ended up with the TENTH edition, which is several years older than the version I'm supposed to have, and so is almost certainly not compatible with the current course. ARGH! In my haste to order it last week, I apparently screwed up and got the wrong one. Even the semester starts MONDAY. As in, FOUR DAYS FROM NOW. ACK! I tried to find the correct version online, and buy it from somewhere that offers overnight shipping -- but couldn't find one in my price range. So, I'm going to have to go to the college campus tomorrow with my student ID and use my financial aid funds... can't do that online, have to do it in person... which means, of course...that I am going to end up missing attending the funeral for another Georgia soldier who was KIA in Iraq... I'm horribly upset, to say the least....

Is this semester over yet?!

CALGON - TAKE ME AWAY!!!!

Final Grades for Fall Semester

ARGH. Just... ARGH. I got my final grades for the fall semester. As expected, I got an "A" in my Comparative Religions class. Yay! Historical Geology didn't fare so well. Remember I said I got a really, really bad grade on the final, due to having a severe headache that day and not being able to remember ANYTHING? Well, the aforementioned really, really bad grade knocked my geology grade from a low A/high B, down to a "C." (The Pirate is going to be so disappointed in me!) The last time I made a C in anything was in college algebra, about 2 years ago. Worse yet, that "C" knocked my GPA way, way, way down -- it WAS a 3.67... now it's only 3.27. Ack. That's just barely a B (which would be 3.0). Ack again.

Next semester, I'm taking American Literature II and Introduction to Anthropology. No room for mistakes this time around... GOTTA pull that GPA back up... WAY up. This 3.27 stuff just ain't cuttin' it, and ain't makin' me happy.

*sigh*

Yippee!

Found out I got a B on my Comparative Religions final exam!!!!!!! Adding up all my grades, etc., from the semester, I'm in solid "A" range still!! Whew! I was SO relieved once I found that out... I thought I'd done extremely poorly on the Religion final, since I'd had a horrible, horrible headache all that day, combined with stress & other "stuff" so that I could barely think straight. I'm glad I didn't do as badly as I thought I did. :)

As far as my Historical Geology final, I KNOW exactly how bad I did on that test, since they give you your grade right away (all done on computer at the campus testing center). I haven't done that poorly on any test since college algebra, a couple years ago. Due, again, to the aforementioned headache/extreme stress. In fact, I did so poorly on that final, I'm not even gonna tell you my grade. Thankfully, the rest of the semester I got all A's & B's, so I'm hopefull that I can still manage to get a "C" in the class. Final grade won't be posted till later this week... I'm totally on pins & needles.... No more science classes online for me, haha! Actually, it wouldn't have been too bad, if I'd just been able to study & think straight the day of the exam... but I was in a world of hurt that day & that just didn't happen. Oh well... life goes on. :)

All Finished! (almost)

*whew*

I just submitted my last historical geology quiz, and turned in my last comparative religions assignment, and I'm officially DONE! Just gotta take my finals... Religion final will be Thursday night, and Geology final will be Friday afternoon (yes, I'm taking both days off... WOOOHOOO!!!!)

Now, I can RELAX, finally.... well, just a little bit, anyway. I'll start cramming madly for finals in a day or two.... :rolleyes

But at least that's ALL I've got left this semester! Yeeehaw!!!!
