Fourteen years ago TODAY, my first kid was born after a brief six hours of labor (who is currently in a full-fledged teenage SNIT because she wants something or other, haha).
Six months ago TODAY, we got the surprise of our lives when we got our new home, which is almost perfect in every way, and our family made its first (and LAST!) national TV debut, hahaha! :)
Hope y'all are having a good day, too. Mine would be great... if only the kids would stop fighting.
Calgon, take me AWAY!!!!!

Well, the Critters Survived Day 1 of School! :)
Yep, even the little guy... they all went and apparently had fun. Lill Guy said the bus ride to school was "boring" because there was "nothing to do on the bus," haha. He and Squeaky ride the same bus, since they go to the same school. :) Which makes me feel MUCH better... I hate the idea of him riding the bus at all ~ he's SO young!!! But we live real close to the school and hubby is there to send him off and meet him at the bus stop in the afternoons, so it's all good, I suppose. :-)
Not too much trouble getting them to bed last night, either, haha - they were tired lill varmints!!!!!!

IT'S OFFICIAL: I SURVIVED THE DIAPER YEARS!!!
YES!!!!! *bounces around excitedly* I hereby proclaim "the diaper years" at the Orr homestead OVER!!!!!!! My youngest baby, my very, very, VERY last kid EVER for as long as I live, IS STARTING SCHOOL TOMORROW!!!!!!!
Yep, The Lill Guy, age 4, starts Pre-K tomorrow. Here in our county, Pre-K is a 5-day a week, all-day school experience. :-)
Squeaky, age 6, is going to be in first grade.
Squirt, age 12 as of next week, starts MIDDLE school tomorrow.
Penut, age 14 as of Saturday, starts HIGH SCHOOL tomorrow. However, she will still be going to her old middle school every day. Weird? Well, yes.... this is the first year Loganville has decided to start a separate "Ninth Grade Freshman Academy." Which they have no separate building for (unlike other counties we've lived in). So...they've taken one whole wing of the middle school and re-named it: "Freshman Academy." Yeah.. whatever.
Finally - all four kids are officially SCHOOL-AGED!!!! The end of an era!!!!
What a relief! :=)
Of course, now I get to worry about the Lill Guy... is he gonna be scared the first day of school? How will he survive all day without his blankie? etc.
BUT.
That's *it*-- my very last baby is finally school-aged, and I ain't havin' no more - EVER! (and yes, surgery has taken place to ensure this is the case... the same day my very last baby EVER was born, I was back in the ER within a few HOURS to get some things taken care of, hehe!)
What a relief. :)
Yay, I survived this far!!! I think I might even see a light at the end of the tunnel now...verrry far away, but yep, it's there! :)~

I GOT IT! I GOT IT! :) WOOHOOO! :)
Today after we got home from church, I immediately went back out to Walmart to get my car's oil changed. Since it was gonna take a lill while, I went and ate lunch at the McDonald's there and read a book I'd brought along with me that I'm almost finished with. :-)
On the way back to the automotive department, what should appear before my wondering eyes but a table wiht BUNCHES of none other than the much-hyped Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! :-) Considering all the hype, I didn't really expect to be able to find a copy for a while, and resigned myself to having to wait for both my older kids to read it, in the process telling me EVERYTHING about the book and how it ends and who dies, etc. But, as luck would have it: 1) my oldest son is spending a week with the Evil, Kat-Hating Inlaws, and 2) my oldest daughter is still with her biological father, who supposedly has (or will have) purchased the book for her at some point during their visitation, before she comes home. SOOOO...herein lies a golden opportunity! I get to read it in PEACE, ***and*** most importantly, they aren't around to tell me how it ends and ruin it for me, like last time. Last time, my charming little varmints handed me the book and said, "Oh yeah, Dumbledore is the one who dies!" I swear I wanted to BOP them!!!!!!!
So THIS time, hopefully... I'm beating them to it! MUWHAHAHAHAHA! (*evil Kat laugh*)
OK, gotta go..need to finish reading the other book, and dive into this one.... :)

A cute kid story, or, my son already has no luck with females
I felt kinda bad for Squirt, my 11 year old son, last night. We have a dog that is not quite a year old yet. Normally, she sleeps in a crate in my room. Before the kids or I go to bed every night one of us (most often, it's them, hehehe) takes Gypsy out for her last walk of the day. Normally, all you have to do is say, "C'mon, Gypsy, let's go outside!" and she (being a border collie/lab/shepherd mix) is at the door in a heartbeat.
Last night, Squirt was to take the doggie out for her walk. She was already hunkered down in my room (where she goes when she gets tired of all the chaos in my home, same as me, haha!) Anyway, when Jacob walked in, she stood up and came over to him. He crooned, and I quote:
"C'mon baaaaaaby, wanna go out?!"
At which point, said "baaaaaaby" turned tail and jumped back into her crate!
hahahaha! Poor Squirt... I couldn't resist saying, "Hey, you might want to remember for the future -- that "line" doesn't work for you!"

Cute Kid Story
So, today, I'm in my room, TRYING to lay down and read, rest, and get rid of a horrific headache. Note I said TRYING... it was a pretty unsuccessful endeavor. I hate living where we live - small little shoebox, with thin walls that afford one NO peace and quiet at all, since sound travels... and the TV is right on the other side of the wall, and the kids are in the living room, watching tv/arguing/playing/arguing more.... you get the idea.
Anyway, as I'm in there trying to rest, my five-year-old pops in (for the millionth time, haha!). She crawls up on the bed with me, chattering away happily about ten million things. Finally, completely out of the blue, she said, "Mommy, when I get my piggy bank filled up to the very top, I'm gonna buy you a motorcycle, ok?!" She went on, "Then you can put on your leather jacket with the fringes on it and your boots and your jeans and go for a ride, OK?"
First, "AWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!"
Second, "HAHAHAHAHA!"
Too sweet, funny & cute. :-) I told her that it would take WAY more than just ONE piggy bank-full to buy one, so she said she would just buy lots more piggy banks.
Anyone besides my 5-year-old wanna donate to the Mommy Motorcycle Fund?! HAHAHAHAHA! (kidding, kidding... just kidding.....)
