Well, the welcome home party was a success!!! As I mentioned, I got there early and got to help decorate. I'd gotten six ballons - three that said "Welcome Back!" and three that said "Thank you!" I took my big 3x5 American flag - the same one I take when I ride with the PGR to funerals and other events, about 4 dozen homemade chocolate chip cookies, and three table top decoration thingies... red, white & blue (OK, one was silver, not white... close enough!). The party took place at Claude's BBQ - one of the best restaraunts around! There were other goodies there - pizza rolls and pretzles and veggies & dip and all sorts of yummies. :) Several people stopped in to welcome home our friend's brother (in the pic on my right) and our friend's cousin (on the left). Both of these guys just got back from Iraq within the past couple of months. Needless to say, as always, it was an honor and a privilege to tell them WELCOME HOME and THANK YOU!!! :) I gave each of them a big ole stack of Christmas cards... an assortment I pulled from the (God knows how many) cards I picked up at the post office yesterday... you know, the ones that said, "I know the deadline was two weeks ago, but I mailed these anyway......" Well, I was able to put several of them to use, giving them to these returning heroes to let them know that despite what the media may say, we DO appreciate them and we ARE proud of them!
It was a most awesome evening. :)
