Lance Corporal Kristopher Cody Warren, age 19 of Resaca, Georgia, died Friday, November 10, 2006 from injuries received in Iraq while serving with the United States Marine Corp. Cody was born on June 25, 1987 in Atlanta, Georgia, son of Joseph Neal Warren and Robin Bright Patterson.
Cody loved to talk on his cell phone, hunt, fish and camp out. He also enjoyed being a horseback traveler. He graduated from Gordon Central High School Class of 2005. Besides being a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and played soccer, he was a member of the Gordon Central Chorale. He had many accomplishments, including being a three year member of the Chorale, having served as its Student Conductor. He was a two year member of the Tonal Combustion Group, and a three year member of the Spring Musical, as well as being the recipient of the Musician of the Year for 2005 and a two year member of the One Act Competition Play. Cody enjoyed being a member of the Gordon Central Blue Wave Marching Band where he performed as Drum Major during his Junior and Senior years. Besides being Drum Major, he played in the Saxophone Concert Band and was a member of the Tri –M Music Society. Each year he participated in the Battle of Resaca reenactment. Cody was a loyal and dedicated member of Echota Baptist Church.
Survivors are his parents; Joe Warren and his wife, Becky of Woodstock, Georgia; Robin Patterson and her husband, Tim of Resaca, Georgia. Brothers; Blake Warren, Ethan Warren and Justin Patterson all of Resaca, Georgia; Bradley Patterson of Calhoun, Georgia and Brandon Haynes. Sisters; Sheena Patterson of Resaca, Georgia; Shanda Patterson of Calhoun, Georgia and Heather Chatel and her husband, Denny. Grandparents; Sheryl Bright and the late Billy Bright of Resaca, Georgia; Neal and Judy Warren of Woodstock, Georgia; Lamar and Jo Patterson of Calhoun, Georgia; Richard and Shirley Trainer of Hogansville, Georgia. Great grandparents; LeEtta Warren of Kennesaw, Georgia; Bill and Margaret Hilley of Calhoun, Georgia. Aunts and uncles; Marty Bright of Resaca, Georgia; Greg and Kathy Ray of Calhoun, Georgia; Jamie and Danny Morgan of Woodstock, Georgia; Patty and Keith Talley of Calhoun, Georgia.
Funeral services for Lance Corporal Kristopher Cody Warren will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from the Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Don Walters and Rev. Bob Oesterle officiating. Singing will be conducted by the Gordon Central Chorale. Members of the United States Marine Corp will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary escort will be staff and members of the Gordon Central Blue Wave Marching Band, the Gordon Central Chorale and the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard. Interment will follow the service at the Georgia National Cemetery, which will include a Dove release followed by full military honors being conducted by the United States Marine Corp.
In lieu of flowers; the family requests contributions be made to the Cody Warren Scholarship Fund and Gordon Central High School. The family will begin receiving friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Friday evening after 6:00 p.m. Family owned and operated Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun, Georgia is conducting the funeral services for Lance Corporal Kristopher Cody Warren of Resaca, Georgia.
