"OPERATION QUIET COMFORT"

Hello there, everyone! I figured it was about time I posted about one of the awesome organizaztions I'm lucky to be involved with. I've mentioned Adopt-a-Platoon, Angels 'n Camouflage and Web of Support lots of times, but I don't believe I've specifically spoken about Operation Quiet Comfort. I'm not "as" active with Operation Quiet Comfort ("OQC") as I'd like to be...pretty much I just sign 4 or 5 "get well/thinking of you" cards each week (or every other week, depending on how insane my life is at the time), sometimes I make them, too, but mostly I just sign 'em..... Anyway, this is an AWESOME organization that helps provide some TLC to our heroes who are wounded or otherwise sick and spending time in military medical facilities (including combat hospitals!).

Please check out their website: OPERATION QUIET COMFORT and get involved. There are MANY ways to get involved...from signing or making cards, to buying/donating items to be sent to the soldiers, to sewing/preparing special quilts for the soldiers... or just donating $$$, if that's all you are able to do. There's a million ways to get involved... check them out, and see what you can do. Our heroes need us!

Below is an excerpt from OQC's website:

OUR PURPOSE:

Established for the purpose of honoring and comforting
members of the U. S. Armed Forces injured while in harms way
and/or during the time of a national emergency, and providing
support to those who care for them.

OUR MISSION:

We're creating care packages to be sent to "Any American Hero"
at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) in Germany and
other medical care facilities abroad.

Often our injured men and women arrive for medical care
without their belongings. Even when injured, our troops need
access to items like hygiene and grooming products, clothing,
entertainment, and communication.

Many of these men and women have families and friends who
face challenges at home and aren't able to do all they would like
to provide support.

It is the mission of this effort to help assure those individuals are
honored for their sacrifice and comforted by creating "GO
BAGS", or transition kits, that include comfort items like our
"Four Freedoms Gratitude Quilt", personal care items, and
products that entertain and provide "down time" for their
spiritual, emotional, and physical healing.

I'm OQC's volunteer card coordinator. If you don't have a card, I'll accept messages written on a 4x5 sheet of paper. I'll attach to blank cards. Contact me at diane52381@nc.rr.com for my address.
