The November 30 deadline for sending Christmas cards to me has LONG since passed... and I'm STILL getting Christmas cards. People are emaling me, saying, "I know it's late but I mailed you a bunch of cards last week - did you get them alright?" Umm... I haven't checked my post office box in a couple weeks...because the card drive is OVER. Everything that will be shipped, HAS been shipped. According to the USPS website, the last day to ship stuff to the sandbox to ensure a Christmas delivery was December 4. I may TRY to send some to some military hospitals here at home - such as Brooks Army Medical Center or Walter Reed, but whether or not my schedule will permit me to do so at this point in the season is questionable. Heck, I haven't even put up my Christmas tree & decorations yet! Whatever cards are sitting at the post office (or my living room) NOW, will sit in my shed out back until next Christmas (hey... got a good head start for next year! woohooo!). I gave the deadline I gave for a reason. I did mail out one "late" shipment the week of December 4... but that's "it" for this Christmas. I guess people who don't regularly mail stuff "over there" understandably just don't realize that mailing "over there" is not the same as mailing here at home - it takes a bit longer than 3 or 4 days to deliver packages, hehe -- especially this time of year. :-) Well, at least I have a jump on next year. :-)
However, fear not... I'll be starting the Valentine's card drive in just a couple weeks... so stay tuned! :)
